White and Gold?

Or is it black and blue?
The best time of year is finally here!!! It's Milan Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2015. It's time for the peasants to "attend", and by that I mean, "stand outside the entrances in awe of everyone actually attending and hopefully get a photographer to snap a photo of my outfit because maybe I actually do look chic in these heels that I lost feeling of my feet in 20 minutes ago."

Welcome to Fashion Week!!!!!!!!
Attending a show's actually not about your level of fame or celebrity status in the world of haute couture like you might think. Attending a Fashion Week show in Milan is about:
1. Endurance
2. Balls
I'm serious! First of all, you have to muster up the courage and strength (lol) to skip class and wait outside of a show. I mean, it's in the name of a multibillion dollar industry, and who am I if not patriotic and willing to support the EU's failing economy? Amuuurica... You also must get there early. If you don't get there early, your chances of securing an invitation are slim. You might think the shows are located fairly close together, but you could be wrong. The shows are all over the city, take place every random hour, and you barely have enough time to get from one show to the other. However, keep in mind that these shows never start on time. If you're looking at a 2:00 pm start time, you're pretty much safe until 2:20 to get into the venue (go figure). The later it gets, the more big name a star to arrive is. Millions of cameras will start going off so you'll know.

Sneaking into Fashion Week 101: Crash with a purpose.
Walk with a purpose. Above all, DRESS with a purpose. These people are peasants to you. Asking for your ticket is a waste of your time. When we went to the Jimmy Choo and Bulgari showcases, Jillian and I were asked for our names. Finding that we weren't on the list, the check-in girl told us that our names weren't approved. We merely retorted with our iciest glares, "It's not our fault we're not on your list. Who should we call?" Voila, and one flustured fashion student later, hellooooo Jimmy Chooos!

You can also employ the popular "sandwich" approach, and slip between two legitimate guests with actual tickets. Flash a 3-in-by-3-inch piece of white paper and you're in. When the lines are crowded, not everyone's scanned or checked throughly. My friend Jordan had a great time at Versace with this method.

Dreams do come true.
Above all, Fashion Week is about you. It's about letting yourself dress the way you want to dress (in heels) with no one to comment otherwise. It's about your sense of style and your creative side. Express yourself the way you want to, and above all........ make it work.

Ciao.
