Our first stop on the Lizzie McGuire tour was the Colosseum.

Roma was full of wonderful people, amazing home-cooked meals, insanely old ruins, and chalk-full of movie references.

My absolute favorite place was the Aventine Keyhole. It's basically a sweeping view of Rome, perfectly contained in this decrepit looking door on Aventine Hill. You can see straight to St. Peter's Basilica.

No one seems to be able to say with certainty whether it was beautifully planned, or just a lucky coincidence. Either way, Rome and Gelato Valentino have my heart forever.

The day before Easter, we met the nicest and coolest man working at Fa-Bio near the Vatican. His mother was Italian, and his father was from Brazil. He spoke perfect English because he actually worked as a flight attendant for many years before settling back down in Rome. He gave us the most amazing recommendations on where to eat, where to explore, and what to see.

My stomach thanks him for this dessert.

Also, little known fact, Rome is home to one of the biggest cat refugees in the world. If you have time, you should totally stop by and check them out!
